Barry Bonds Boo Hoo
Okay, I admit it. Unlike my family members, I do not like Barry Bonds. I watched him in some steroid related Q & A and he held his son in front of him--not clearly as a human shield, but I got that feeling just the same, like "Be gentle, my kid's with me." So what of the perjury and obstruction of justice? My family members who are his fans say, he would've made it into the hall of fame anyway. At first my judgmental back was up, I mean, the guy's a cheater! They didn't care, for them it became the same argument as so many others in the murky waters of adolescence---that was the era of steroids, hmm, everyone was doing it, I've heard that one before. I realized that for them this was not a cynical acceptance of the ever-unfolding criminal element in politics, sports, and yes, consumerism. Instead, they reasoned, that the large number of cheaters had made cheating the norm and that the playing field was level in some corrupt, and criminal twist of society. The scary part is that I can see their point.
