New York attorney general Andrew Cuomo is going after insurance companies with charges relating to the big gap between insurance reimbursement for out of network providers and that concocted number that represents Usual and Customary Charges.
Task a day insurance: It is normal procedure to notify the State Insurance Department with health insurance issues. Cuomo brings a new state force into the fray, the attorney general, as a possible avenue for citizens in reigning in the corruption of our health insurance industry that was intended to help consumers pay for health care.
Among other things, State Attorneys General represent the STATE in claims of fraud, deceptive practices and other consumer areas.
When we notify our state insurance department of the practices of health insurers, it is a good idea to also demand some real action from attorneys general too. Thank you Mr. Cuomo!
