On Friday, June sixth, the President said that HE’D DO IT AGAIN regarding the controversial trade of five Taliban detainees for the release of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl earning criticism from both parties.
The story is the latest indication of why Obama has been a bad President for much of the American public and why he is not, in my opinion, a good leader. I'm with the majority, I don't believe he has proven trustworthy in what he communicates to the American people nor in the actions he takes, and in those situations where he’s been caught by the discrepancy between what he says and what is, he ultimately confirms that our mistrust is valid by arguing that, like in the instance of the Bergdahl release, he’d do it again.
When he responded to the American people finding out about the NSA’s surveillance, on 1/17/14 he said, “And I believe it is important that the capability that this program is designed to meet is preserved.” He approves.
During his April 1, 2014 speech in spite of all the issues uncovered and becoming apparent concerning the law sold to us based on a series of half-truths, the President clucked, “It’s working.” He’d do it again.
When it came to Solyndra, that went bankrupt in September 2011 after receiving $527 million from the Energy Department’s Loan Guarantee program, in his remarks on October 6, 2011 the President argued that “The overall portfolio has been successful,” he’d do it again.
It’s important to understand that in addition to being the author of the half-truths and outright lies that have proven him untrustworthy for the majority of Americans, creating doubts among even his most adamant supporters, the President himself is responsible for the personal nature of the attacks on our government’s failures during his Presidency because HE chose to criticize, ignore, and disparage our governmental system of checks and balances and therefore us, the citizens who rely on that system to help support, promote and protect our interests.
The President is inattentive to both populist input and governmental oversight. Too many times to cite, this President has defined our system as his biggest opponent by criticizing Congressional actions or inactions. Disparaging, critiquing and ignoring voices of dissent and therefore ignoring the voices of citizens they represent.
It is the President who largely ignored the American public, lying and misleading about Obamacare gambling (correctly) on the fact that we wouldn’t pay attention to the real law until it was too late to easily change it as was shown with issues arising in 2013 because of 2014 implementation dates though the law passed in 2010.
This President whines over any difference of opinion or resistance he receives from other parts of our checks and balances and has set up our government’s system of checks-and-balances as an obstacle he must overcome rather than a cherished pillar of our government. To date it seems as if the President uses his expertise in bureaucracy and law to get around our laws for his own purposes rather than respect them, always staying just within legal (though some would say otherwise)though emerging as sneaky.
Ultimately, it is a disconnect between his words about right, about people, about America and his actions that largely indicate a man in power who is frustrated and contemptuous of other branches of government and the American people who they were created to represent.
We get the next threat from our President in his weekly address delivered June 7 2014 regarding student loans… “And while Congress decides what it’s going to do, I will keep doing whatever I can without Congress to help responsible young people pay off their loans – including new action I will take this week,” (look up White House Weekly Address). Oops he did it again.
