Defunding Obamacare: Proud Republican? I think not.

H.J. Res. 59: Continuing Appropriations Resolution, 2014 can be found at govtrack.us/congress/bills. Since today’s empower series discussed the incompleteness of the information that the SBC (statement of benefits and coverage) which could present pitfalls, I figured we should AT LEAST PEEK into what the defunding Obamacare H.J. Res. 59 actually says.

It’s an eye opener. Section 137 (a) begins, “Notwithstanding any other provision of law, no Federal funds shall be made available to carry out any provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Public Law 111-148) or title I and subtitle B of title II of the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010 (Public Law 111-152), or of the amendments made by either such Act.”

There you have it. It DOES defund Obamacare for the year. Under Section 137 (b) all the funding that’s relied upon currently for changes in healthcare systems that have been occurring since 2010 when the law passed are also stopped “… nor shall any payment be awarded, owed, or made to any State, District, or territory under any such provision.”

What DOES the House have money for?

Well one that caught my eye was that there was enough money for civilian government personnel and their BENEFITS, under Sec. 112 that provides, “Amounts made available under section 101 for civilian personnel compensation and BENEFITS (emphasis added) in each department and agency may be apportioned up to the rate for operations necessary to avoid furloughs within such department or agency…”

My opinion for Republicans in government, “If you want to be extremist, start with yourself, the world of civil servant slackers (Yeah, that’s what I’m beginning to think) duping the American people into financing your superior salaries and BENEFITS while screwing us, the people footing the bill.”

My message to Republican voters, DEMAND that your representatives walk the walk. Neither Obama nor his Republican counterparts have updated their world of Federal civil servants who enjoy larger rates of pay, job security, and benefits, all the old-fashioned American worker experiences that the Americans footing the bill for them no longer have.
