Hillary's Idea for Obamacare Reform: "Keep Shopping" 3/13/2016

On 3/13/2016 before a pre-screened audience, Hillary Clinton responded to a woman from Ohio who stated that she and her husband could not purchase an Obamacare plan because of the cost and ended up purchasing a private plan offered off-Exchange. The question was summarized by CNN: "Do Democrats realize how difficult it has been on working Americans to finance Obamacare?"

(Go to YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPVkxTKC3_g which is the complete CNN Town Hall of 3/13/2016 and I've marked the minutes of Hillary Clinton's Obamacare response which is at about minute 20:00).

Hillary Clinton included the Obamacare response to criticism: You're wrong, dismissing the criticism this way: At minute 22:52- Hillary Clinton: "I do want you to keep shopping because what you're telling me is much higher than what I hear from other families and so I want to be sure if there's a better option out there for you, you're going to be able to take advantage of it."

Hillary Clinton also referred to the non-law provided "Federal" Exchange (nowhere mentioned in the Affordable Care Act, but that didn't matter to the Federal government) at minute 21:35.

Hillary Clinton also stated that those with pre-existing conditions could now purchase affordable health insurance --non-responsive to the question.

Then Hillary revealed her plan: More of the same.

Clinton promised to try to do more of what even she acknowledged hasn't worked: (At minute 21:58) Arguing for "more nonprofits that are capable of selling insurance back into the insurance market. BC/BS used to be nonprofits and then they transferred themselves into for-profit companies. There was some effort made under the Affordable Care Act to get some competition from nonprofit institutions, some of them worked a lot of them didn't."

She promised to TRY to get costs down for everybody, even prescription drug costs.

But after discounting the woman's experience (not what she's heard) at minute 21:28 Hillary Clinton advised: One thing I would like you to do, and I'm not saying it's going to make a difference, I would like you to just go shopping on that exchange."

Ending her advice to go shopping with the nonsensical conclusion at minute 21:45: "Go on and keep looking and see what the prices are because we have to get more competition into the insurance market," Hillary Clinton.
