Obamacare and Music? Benefits 2016

When Kris Kristofferson and Fred Foster wrote, “Me and Bobby McGee,” perhaps they didn’t know that decades later sorting through our health insurance “options” with the Obamacare proviso YOU MUST CHOOSE ONE OR PAY A FINE that the words of the song would resonate… “Freedom’s just another word for nothing left to lose.” (there’s a link to the Janis Joplin version on the bottom of this page).

This benefits season we’ve been warned that health insurance costs are going up again. But the rest of the usual is also true, there will be less coverage of non-preventive benefits and there will be greater requirements for out of pocket costs of premiums, deductibles, copayments and coinsurance to consumers.

But there’s an upside and that’s that more and more of the former middle class will likely find themselves underinsured, meaning that if they face illness, they’ll likely be unable to afford NEEDED health care. Why is that an upside? Because reality is the only thing that will get us over the misinformation of politics when it comes to Obamacare so that wise and clever consumers will exercise their initiative as consumers and get this bad law changed to benefit the newly "free and empowered," the consumers who are paying for this law AND taking most of the hits from the law.

There's also another benefit for those less interested in the future and trying to just get through benefits election this year...You won’t “CHOOSE” wrong. You may fail to PREDICT that you’ll become ill or have an accident requiring NEEDED MEDICAL SERVICE. But what Obamacare has really done is give everyone a FREE PASS…We’re being FORCED to CHOOSE and PURCHASE a PRODUCT THAT WILL LIKELY NOT GIVE US THE NEEDED FINANCIAL PROTECTION WE REQUIRE IN THE EVENT WE NEED MEDICAL CARE. So, to put a positive spin on it...Obamacare is the new "freedom."
