What are our expectations of the GOVERNMENT CLASS? This is an OPINION.
It’s pre-benefits season and this year, as we all nervously await what won’t be covered and how much more it will cost us for our family’s health benefits I’m reminded of how bad things have been in the US as the division between the government class and the rest of the population in America is underscored in the campaign circus going on.
The failure of Obama’s government to prioritize based on American traditions, values and the American people who put them in office has made Obama’s government the worst government leadership I can recall, one that put its own position, priorities and visions ahead of the people it allegedly represents.
OBAMA is a “IT’S GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU” President: One of the stark results of the Democratic “new” America under Obama is the shameless preservation old America he holds onto for the government class like a ragged, beloved blankie as he throws the rest of America under the bus and uses administrative loopholes to maximize his personal agenda.
WE ARE NOT IN IT TOGETHER WITH THE GOVERNMENT CLASS: It’s one thing telling Americans to suck it up. It’s quite another telling Americans to suck it up while protecting your own…the government class.
It should have been enough for us when we realized that even as he made fun of old-fashioned Republicans for wanting to enforce the rule of law regarding immigration, foreign policy, and American jobs, Obama like every coward bully made sure that his changes changed nothing for himself and the government class.
After all, Obama preserved health benefits, salary increases, job security and benefits for the government class. Like every blowhard bully he imposes his will on those whom he has power over and bows, cajoles and folds in deference to those he wants something from or whom he considers his people…the government class.
It’s startling to read the government class brag that the government class is doing BETTER than the people governed by that class, making laws that brazenly destroy the legitimate middle class:
“The government provides its employees with a first-class benefits package. In fact, studies conducted by the Bureau of Labor Statistics reveal that the gap concerning benefits between the private and public sectors has been growing-in favor of the public sector,” http://gogovernment.org/government_101/benefits.php. That’s what we’re living with: “We’re doing better than you because of the laws we passed.”
GOVERNMENT CLASS EMPLOYMENT VERSUS OUR UNEMPLOYED YOUTH: And the preference for the government class doesn’t stop there. We’ve got double-digit youth unemployment in this country and more people who have stopped looking for jobs than there have been in decades (labor participation) yet the anti-gay marriage Kim Davis gets paid AND is taking time off and is refusing to do her job and comply with US law with the SECURITY of knowing she won’t be found immediately unfit for office and replaced.
What cowardice and how similar to Obama, pushing her agenda from the safety and protection of the government class, getting citizens to pay for her personal crusade.
ANYONE BUT AMERICANS: President Obama has placed US citizens as his lowest priority unless they’re part of his beloved government class. Consider the amnesty to illegal aliens the President created with his executive order of 2014 even as our own population’s youth unemployment rate is in the double digits, even though our labor participation is lower than it’s been in decades, even though we’ve slashed food stamp benefits while absorbing tens of thousands of new illegals. Another done deal.
We don’t need to flood the US job market with illegals who are treated BETTER than our citizens. On top of providing amnesty, we’ve now flooded the job market with formerly illegals who get better treatment than citizens. Consider that their amnesty includes no misdemeanor or felony record for all the things that are done as part of illegal residence whether it’s fake IDs, fake social security numbers, illegal entry into the country, lying on job applications, driving without a license, providing false information to officials…All the crimes which would follow every other American around for their lifetimes.
Why should every pot-smoking teenager or joyriding adolescent US citizen have to go through life with a “record” being penalized for their childish conduct and illegal aliens get a pass so that they not only now can compete with US citizens but have phony records that are seemingly better than US citizens’ because their transgressions don’t count?
ANYONE BUT AMERICANS: And now the Iran deal, with just 21 percent support of the American people who will live with the deal, it is similarly being shoved down our throats…A done deal. (PEW RESEARCH, September 8, 2015 pegs support at just 21 percent).
ROGUE GOVERNMENT CLASS: It’s the perverse egotistical and brazen disregard for the American people who put him in office (yes, twice) that has made this smooth-talking, empty-promising salesman of a politician more than the worst President of my lifetime, but one who has opened the door to an age of a rogue government class willing to sneak and maneuver through our government procedures to get around the American people and manage to stay just on the right side of the law in order to pursue their individual agendas ignoring the citizens, the very people who put them there.
Sure, Hillary Clinton is a suspicious candidate…Her response to the email issues seem strangely similar to the approach of finding loopholes and staying just on the right side of the law, “Yeah I did it and there’s nothing you can do about it,” the Democratic chant.
But our biggest concern is the belligerence and rigidity of Republicans because they too discuss USING their positions to IMPOSE their agendas without old-time respect for checks and balances and the duties owed to those who put them in office and on top of that the Republican agenda sounds scarier because it ignores reality.
REPUBLICANS ARE AS BAD IF NOT WORSE THAN DEMOCRATS: The Republicans could have won in 2012 but for their rigid commitment to what much of America considered crazy. If it seemed crazy to let Obama continue on his vision for transforming this country into what it is today seemed bad, it seemed worse to support the Republicans who seemingly ignored the reality of what we have in this country, a diverse population that is enduring financial stress like never before in recent history using the middle class as a piggy-bank for America, the poor getting a little more, the rich getting a lot more and the middle class losing more ground than it has in the last 30 years unless they were part of the Obama government class.
Yet the Republicans argue against minimum wage without any counter-balancing proposals such as restricting offshoring of American jobs, granting of endless work visas to non-citizens, or penalizing the rich who put their money offshore.
Yet the Republicans support further slashing what they call “entitlements,” such as Medicare already gutted by Obama (yeah, those provisions are kicking in by 2019), breaking the promise of an American government to its working citizens who have paid in from their first jobs.
Yet the Republicans who argue that they’ll get rid of the IRS, et cetera think people don’t notice that as politicians they’re seeking to put themselves into the protection of the government class and suck out salary, raises, pensions and benefits that outstrip any ordinary Americans’ benefits? Nonsense.
The arguments were legitimately not persuasive to the American people in 2012 and should not be persuasive in 2016.
PRIORITIZE THE MIDDLE CLASS: It may not be a “big” issue to politicians, but the utter failure to preserve our middle class is the main reason America will continue to falter. The middle class piggy-bank is shrinking so the government class has instead decided to slash benefits for Medicare for the next generation of Americans who have paid into that system since their first job so many years ago.
What does that slashing of benefits for Medicare mean for middle class families? It means that they will have less to leave their children and that more of us will be forced onto Medicaid which will be the death knell for the children of today’s middle class and their inheritance because:
“State Medicaid programs MUST RECOVER certain Medicaid benefits paid on behalf of a Medicaid enrollee. For individuals AGE 55 or older, states are REQUIRED to seek recovery of payments from the individual's ESTATE for nursing facility services, home and community-based services, and related hospital and prescription drug services,” STATE RECOVERY AND LIENS, Medicaid.gov.
Entitlement? Where are the Republicans taking action and promising to get that government class on an equal footing with the rest of the US citizenry regarding changing their benefits options, pensions, job security and raises?
REPUBLICAN TRACK RECORD SUCKS: As the apparently too lazy and too cowardly and too fat and happy legislators nod their heads like tired cows and tell us that the IRAN DEAL is a done deal, (just like Obamacare), politicians promise that AFTER we’re stuck with the Iran deal they’ll do something (just like Obamacare?) instead of proving themselves before the policy is in place with meaningful efforts at prevention.
REPUBLICANS DON’T LEARN: Instead Republicans continue to prefer “crazy” route, advocating using your position (Kim Davis) as a pulpit to preach your attitudes and not perform your job duties while collecting a paycheck on the dubious ground that some religion supports your view. Isn’t STEALING (which not working and collecting a paycheck is) also of biblical importance? Isn’t TOLERANCE also of importance? How about marriage licenses for those of the Wiccan religion, or Jews, or Scientologists? Apparently Kim Davis has no issue with that. How about respect for the law? Also not important Ms. Davis?
Kim Davis, to me, is the ultimate coward and hypocrite who is hoping to PAINLESSLY exercise her half-hearted and overly narrow objections (choosing gay marriage as more religiously offensive than marrying those who believe in something else against her religion) to protest with no risk to her job, paycheck and government employment privilege. All I can say is, “How very Obama of you Ms. Davis.”
We don’t need the Republicans to lecture a diverse America on religion and try to manipulate the tools of government to slip their personal views in, this is the same as Obama whether you prefer the Republican agenda or not.
We don’t need Republicans whose ideas on saving government money primarily involve destroying social programs for American citizens like food stamps, Medicare, Medicaid, BEFORE they slash the country expense of supporting government employees, their superior benefits, their superior raises, and their superior pensions.
We don’t need the Republicans to lecture a frighteningly unemployed and under-employed America on how having a livable minimum wage will “force people to lay off employees,” while they FAIL to penalize off-shore tactics used to undercut American jobs such as outsourcing and as they ignore hidden offshoring of funds by the rich to avoid taxes.
This is Obama’s presidency all over again with the added crazy of Republican hypocrisy about religion. You can’t say you’re pro-American and American law and argue for a blending of Church and State.
We don’t need the false bravado of promises to rip up deals, repeal Obamacare or anything else, we need Republicans with a TRACK RECORD of doing the work and informing and warning the American people about such policies BEFORE they’re shoved down our throats because it’s harder to get rid of bad policy than to prevent it.
We need candidates who will stand up for the middle class that has been decimated by policies that have drained our assets and that statistically has reduced the American middle class standard of living and possibility for a survivable future even as the poor are doing better and the rich are doing better.
We need candidates who prioritize government action in accordance with the experience of the American people including environmental policies that don’t deny global warming but don’t trade an unknown future for a known present.
We need candidates who keep their religion separate from their public duty and don’t use their governmental office to try to convert America to their personal religion.
We need candidates who work to curb the growing disparity between the good experienced by the government class and the bad experienced by the American middle class.
We need candidates who put America and Americans first as a priority and don’t flood our economy with more unemployed people under the false banner of compassion which will predictably worsen the lot of our citizens.
We need candidates who are as irate about an agreement with a country that promises the destruction of Israel as they are about marriages of which they disapprove.
We need candidates who don’t brag that their behavior is “just” legal but who exhibit behavior that is proudly legal because they believe in the laws they want to enforce against everyone else.
In other words, we need someone other than Obama who flaunted his power OVER rather than ON BEHALF the American people by ignoring Americans in his pursuit of his agenda and priorities leaving the middle class in peril of disappearing in the United States as he protected himself and others of the government class.
